What I Listen To Other Than Rap

So I got an email today, and it was from someone finding my youtube account, and they asked me how I get inspiration for many of my songs. Here's the hint, I don't listen to rap when I want an idea for a rap song. Sounds crazy right? Nah, your favorite artists probably do the same thing. Rockers may be blasting hip-hop and soul, rappers listening to folk and country, ect.

Surprisingly Rap/Hip-Hop is barely half of my music library. Other stuff I listen to...
-Alt. Rock
-Hard Rock
-Metal
-Metalcore
-Folk
-Pop (not radio pop for the most part)
-R&B
-Soul
-Reggae
-Nu-Metal

My favorite non-rap artists would have to include Michael Jackson, Avenged Sevenfold, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath, Lily Allen, Ingrid Michaelson, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Frank Ocean, Blink-182, Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Broadway, Foster The People, Arcade Fire, and Jukebox The Ghost.

That's just a few. For some of the songs I listen to a bunch, I made a youtube playlist for you guys to check out. May try doing this every once in a while to let you guys know what I'm listening to.

RT Comics

I just bought the first edition of RT comics on iBooks for $10. I'll edit this post in a minute to say if it was worth it.

EDIT: well... It's been a few hours, and I'm still not done reading all the comics. There's also commentary for each comic. The only complaint I have, is that you have to double tap the screen each time u want to read anything, cuz the text is too small otherwise.

Blogger app

So blogger I guess just released an app, because I remember looking for one a while back and couldn't find one. Well I'm using it now, so it does work, but there a few things I don't like about it. First off it doesn't switch to landscape view, so you can't type with the longer keyboard. Secondly you can't find in without Wi-Fi, which can get really annoying, especially if something cool just happened and I want to make a post about it. Other than that, I don't see any problems with it.

EDIT: One more problem with it that I just found, is that you can't add or change any of the tabs, which sucks, because that means I actually have to turn on my computer to do that.

Rest In Peace: Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple died at 56 due to problems with pancreatic cancer.

He's done many huge things during his time, including
-Co-founding Apple Inc. (currently worth $322.28 Billion)
-Founded Pixar Animation Studios (later bought by Disney for 7.4 Billion)
-after being kicked out of Apple, he founded NeXT Computers, which Apple later bought and renamed Steve as CEO
-Pixar releases Toy Story (Jobs was executive)
-Apple releases the very first iPod
-Apple releases iTunes to combat digital piracy
-Apple releases the first iPhone
-Apple releases the first iPad

Apple's annual profit jumped from $8 Billion in 2000 to $65 Billion.

Not only that, but you can bet a huge amount of technology was and will be inspired by Steve Jobs, he was unafraid to try something different (iTunes, iPhone, iPad) and took risks, and tech would be very different without him.

Project Common31: Day 3

What's up Neon Void readers (yes all 3 of you!), today, albeit late, I have chosen Common's song "I Used To Love Her". There isn't much to say other than that this is pretty much pure hip-hop. A simple old school beat, with beautiful poetic lyrics.

and here is your youtube link.

Hello

So I was looking at the stats some more, and I decided to say hello to all the countries we get hits from, in their languages. Also, I apologize if your country speaks more than one language and it's not included. (google translate ftw)
EDIT: sorry for the highlights, I copied the ones that I couldn't type.

How we get our views

So most of our views come from my Philosoraptor post, and while looking through where else we get our hits, we stumbled across a few strange ones.
  • Eminem leaks 2010 (stans...)
  • whats the riff watch the throne (lolwut)
  • beats by dre popped out cup
  • neon beats by dre (apparently 11 people want those...)
  • "it might have been the octopus" (the quotes were there... and we're the first link if you search that... we got 2 hits that way)

Project Common31: Day 2

Alright for today's Common song I have picked his track "The Light" off of his 2000 album "Like Water For Chocolate". This track was grammy-nominated and critically acclaimed. Personally i really like this track, and would definitely recommend it. It has Common talking about gender-equality and how he may have wronged females in the past he is ready to stand on common grounds (no pun intended) with whatever girl he is talking to/about.

Finally here is a youtube link.

Project Common31

Alright, so the idea of this is to get more into rapper "Common" - every day in this month of October I will post a new Common song that I've downloaded/bought and I want you guys to at least listen to it and post on the forum or tweet me on your thoughts about that day's song (@Night on twitter, by the way). Also, the Common31 will be primarily on the forum, but will also be taking over the Song Of The Day for this month. Also I will be doing this more if it goes well, so suggest other artists as well (doesn't have to be rap/hip-hop, just has to have 31+ songs)

So it's October 1st, and the first Common song I've downloaded is his latest single "Ghetto Dreams" featuring Nas - available here -
